How to Use
To ensure the safe use of Diethylcarbamazine, let your doctor know of all your allergies as well as all the medications you are taking. Your medical history will also be essential in preventing complications during treatment.
Diethylcarbamazine needs to be taken immediately after meals. You have to take the medicine for the full time of treatment in order to completely clear the infection. Do not stop using the medicine even if the symptoms clear. Take the medicine at the same time each day to achieve the best results and avoid the risk of missing doses.
The amount of tablets you are advised to take will depend on the strength of the medicine. The dose will also be influenced by the number of time you take the medicine per day, time allowed between doses as well as the prescribed length of time. Typically, in adults, the dose size is based on body weight. The dose is 2 – 3 mg per kg. For the eosinophilic lung, the dosage for adults is 6 mg per kg. This is typically taken for 4 to 7 days.
Regular tests may be done to see how you are responding to the drug. Don’t miss any scheduled appointment with your doctor.
It is unknown if the medicine can harm an unborn or a breastfeeding baby. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or nursing a baby.
Store the medicine at room temperature and away from heat, light and moisture.
Consulting your doctor before using this medicine is vital. The doctor will weigh the benefits against the risk of using Diethylcarbamazine. You are required to tell your doctor of all your allergies: dyes, foods, animals and preservatives. If it is a non-prescription drug, read the label or the ingredients listed on the package keenly before taking the drug.
In spite of there being no specific studies done, Diethylcarbamazine is not expected to cause different side effects in children. The side effects are similar to those in adults. Report new or worsening side effects to your doctor as soon as possible.

To achieve the best results, use Diethylcarbamazine exactly as prescribed. Do not take the medicine in smaller or larger doses than directed or for durations longer or shorter than recommended.
Let your health care provider know of all the prescription and nonprescription medicines you might be taking. This will help avoid cases of unpleasant interactions.
